How to Print Labels Using Microsoft Word

You can print a variety of labels from your computer. The label feature of Microsoft Word allows you to create tab inserts for dividers, mailing and shipping labels, business cards, note cards, and audio, video and CD labels, just to name a few.

Wikihow.com will guide you through the easy, step-by-step instructions on all your label printing needs. The following instructions will show you how to print labels using Microsoft Word. Please note that these instructions are for use with Microsoft Word 2007 and may differ from other versions of Microsoft Word.

1. At the top of Microsoft Word 2007, click on the “Mailings” tab.

2. Then, click on “Labels.”

3. A screen will open that will allow you to modify your labels. You have a choice of making a full page of labels with 1 address/name or a full page of labels with multiple addresses or names.

4. If you are looking for a full page of 1 address or name, then type the information in the “Address” box. Under “Print,” you have a choice of making a full page of the same label, or creating a single label. If you are making a single label, you can adjust the size of the label by adjusting the “row” and “column.”

5. Click on “Options” or the “Label” section to change the type of labels you are using. First, choose if you have a “Continuous Feed” or “Page Printer.” The program will already be set as “Page Printer” and “Tray: Default tray.” If you are not sure, leave the default setting. Then, input the label information specific to the “label vendor” and “product number.” By clicking on “New Labels,” adjustments can be made to the measurements of the labels. The finalized label measurements will be displayed under “Label Information” and if acceptable, click “OK.”

6. You are now back to the beginning “Labels” screen. You can either print directly by clicking “Print” or you can create a document of labels that you can modify by clicking “New Document” and then printing the sheet.
